Issue #9

Issue #9. This is the ninth issue, and we are still behind the schedule, but never mind.

+News+

I have found a sort of quiz thing. Take a look.
Find your Pokemon!

Hopefully a new pokemon game will be released soon, even though Battle Revolution was only released a while ago. However, Planet Puzzle League looks good, its a bit like Pokemon Puzzle League.

Go to http://www.darkrai.com to check out the 'new' pokemon, and trailers of the movie featuring it (The Rise of Darkrai).

This movie 'blog' is certainly interesting... Take a look. If only for the heart-shaped carrots. See what I mean?

Shaymin has been officially introduced, and more, well, imporrtantly is the release of a new form of Darkrai. It has a different shape, and it is 6.9m high, and it weighs 650kg. I thought it looked like a cross between a bat and a flying serpent. But don't listen to me.

The Pokeshop Pokemon Center has closed down. Some of the stuff was expensive, but it had lots of good-quality pokemon merchandise.

Jigglypuff will be in SSMB. Yay!

This made me slightly bemused. http://www.pokemon.com/#mailbag_02042008. It announces the possible release of a new handheld pokemon game, but it could be Mystery Dungeon 2, or Ranger 2, or even the missing third game from the D&P! But don't get too excited...

The NSIDER2 forums have opened. Don't really know why they closed down in last time.

http://www.pokemon.com/dungeon2/personality_test/. Another personality test. This time it is th Mystery Dungeon 2. It's better than the last one, so it's worth a try.

POTW

This Week... Zapdos!Zapdos

Moveset
Item: Leftovers

Thunderbolt
Reflect
Thunder Wave
Protect

EVs 252 HP 126 Speed 126 Special Attack

This is a good annoyer/little helper/physical attacker moveset for Zapdos, because it has good moves, and it doesn't attempt anything too ambitious. It has Thunderbolt for some basic protection, Reflect for defensive purposes, Thunder Wave to tie in with Protect to waste the opposition's PP. Protect also provides free recovery if you use my recommended item, Leftovers.

MOTW

This Week... Reflect

Psychic
Special Move
Base Power: 0
Accuracy: 0
TM #33
PP 20

Reflect works best in double battles, but it is a solid move in single battles as well. It improves your defence, and is a good option for pokemon that don't have access to other Defence-boosting moves. It has good PP, it is a TM, so it can be used with a lot of pokemon, and it is is a speciasl, but that doesn't matter that much because it doesn't cause any damage (at least when used on it's own; preventing damage can cause it, defence can sometimes be the best form of attack).

Pokefiction section

Scar had passed the other battles with ease, but he was now about to battle against the skilful colosseum leader, Joe.

"Let the battle, begin!" cried the referee. Joe whipped out a Spinda. Scar quickly attacked it with Monferno's Mach Punch. Spinda looked confused, and made erratic movements towards its trainer. Joe was definitely confused as well.

"Mach Punch, causing the confusion effect, that's unheard of !" the announcer gasped. Spinda managed to regain some awareness and hit a half-hearted tackle in Monferno's way. Monferno easily dodged the attack, and one swift Mach Punch later, Monferno had defeated Joe's first pokemon.

"Don't worry, I have lots more tricks up my sleeve !" Joe cackled. His voice sounded experienced, whereas Scar's was much the opposite, although his steady determination more than made up for that.

However, Joe had been foolish, and over-confident; conceited, even. His Treeko was easily defeaten with a Sunny Day + Fire Punch combo, and luckily Scar had chosen the right move because Mudkip was next. Mudkip's attacks were no match for Monferno's in the blinding sunny weather, so Scar earned his 7th victory, that colosseum had brought good-faith to Scar, and its culmination was a better result than Scar could have dreamed of...

That is the end of another issue, look out for Issue #10. Don't go thinking that this is our penultimate issue, we're not quitting after our 10th issue. Farewell!
